Traditional transportation planning has not deliberately neglected the concerns of rural locales, yet they are often overshadowed by issues in more densely populated areas. Adopting technologically effective approaches to rural transportation planning is the first step toward helping DOTs equitably address transportation needs in rural communities.

This website is designed to help DOTs and other planning agencies fulfill their obligations to rural communities by reimagining planning through the creation of one or more new assessment tools and strengthening the connectivity, mobility, and economies of rural communities for better and more equitable transportation, health, and economic outcomes.
